Heinrich David Woese
wurde im Jahre 1805 in Berlin geboren. Nachdem er die Gemeindeschule besucht hatte, wurde er Kaufmann, wanderte 1848 nach Amerika aus und kam direkt nach Syracuse, woe er das Maler-Geschäft erfolgreich betrieb und bis zu seinem Tode eine der Hauptstützen des hiesigen Deutschthums war. Er war mit Caroline Ballin verheirathet und starb im Juli ’81. Seine Wittwe und 4 Kinder überleben ihn. [page 298]
Heinrich David Woese was born in 1805 in Berlin. After attending the local public school, he became a merchant, emigrated in 1848 to America, and came directly to Syracuse, where he successfully operated a painting business and up until his death was one of the principal supporters of the local German people. He was married to Caroline Ballin and died in July 1881. His widow and 4 children survive him.
