Johann G. Finkbeiner
wurde geboren am 21. Februar 1842 zu Gutach in Baden. Im Jahre 1848 musste sein Vater der Revolution wegen das Land verlassen und begab sich mit seiner Familie nach dem Canton Tessin in der Schweiz. In 1852 kehrten sie zurück nach Schramberg in Württemberg, wo Herr Finkbeiner, 10 Jahre alt, zuerst die Schule besuchte. Später arbeitete er im Stahl- und Eisenwerk, bis er in 1863 nach Amerika auswanderte, und am 28. Mai in New York landete. Er liess sich in Syracuse nieder, erlernte bei seinem Bruder das Schreinerhandwerk, welches er bis vor 4 Jahren betrieb. Seitdem ist er Agent für Dr. Schoop’s weltberühmte und vortreffliche Familien-Medizinen. Er verheirathete sich am 17. Juni 1866 mit Frl. Philippine Kreyss, hat 6 Kinder: Wilhelm F. G., Carl, Hermann, Heinrich G., Philipp August und Johann Edward, und wohnt No. 416 Seymourstrasse. [page 263]
Johann G. Finkbeiner was born 21 February 1842 in Gutach in Baden. In the year 1848 his father had to leave the country because of the Revolution, and took his family to Canton Tessin in Switzerland. In 1852 they went back to Schramberg in Württemberg, where Mr. Finkbeiner, ten years old, attended school for the first time. Later he worked in the steel- and iron-works, until he emigrated to America in 1863, landing in New York on 28 May. He established himself in Syracuse and learned with his brother the joiner's trade [carptentry, cabinetmaking], which he followed for four years. Since then he has been an agent for Dr. Schoop's world-famous and splendid Family Remedy. He was married on 17 June 1866 to Miss Philippine Kreyss, has six children: Wilhelm F. G., Carl, Hermann, Heinrich G., Philipp August, and Johann Edward, and lives at 416 Seymour Street.
